Teamwork: Time to let go of fear, unforgiveness
Email Print
What is a team? I think of our family as a team. Each has different skills, abilities, personalities, etc., but each plays an essential role for the team. I love building up our children and encouraging them to not only rise to their potential but go beyond it. We love working as a team. It’s fun!

Growing up I played on many different teams and had some great coaches who taught me a lot about life and being a team player. I had to learn that cheering my team on was just as important as playing on the field.

If we wanted to win we had to work and work hard. We had to do our best and have a stellar attitude on and off the field. I learned that whatever attitude I had could be catchy and must be worthy of being caught.

I love the story of the USA Hockey team in the movie “Miracle.” They had to believe they were a team before they could function as one and ultimately win. It took hard work, self sacrifice and a strong commitment. They dared to believe for the impossible. Once united, there was no stopping them.

Our community is a team. Schools, businesses, government, organizations, families and individuals are all part of this team. What are some of the things holding us back? I believe it’s fear, unforgiveness and a lack of trust. We must lay these things down.

We may disagree on issues, but at the end of the day we must come to a place of agreement to move ahead. A community that’s determined to get in agreement will move forward. It will capture the prize and rise to higher heights.

I believe this city has got what it takes to function as a team and rise to the top. This will take a commitment to building one another up, treating people right, and building bridges. Believing in people changes the course of history.

Greatness is in our midst. There’s leadership all over the city. Creativity and a will to accomplish it is evident everywhere. Life abounds here. We live in an incredible city. The atmosphere is not one that you find just anywhere. Northfield is clearly an amazing place. To the top it’s time to rise.

Really, are you serious? This was the best you could come up with. I am offended, who are you to tell anyone that "it's fear, unforgiveness and a lack of trust" that is holding Northfield back.

Lighten up, fedup . . .

fedup, you are showing your fear and lack of trust. Try a little forgiveness or understanding for one with a different opinon. Look at the big picture and see the positives in her message.
